Mira takes its name from one of the most unique stars in our solar system - a very bright star, advanced in its evolution, but only rarely visible to the naked eye.

Founder and Managing Partner

Prior to forming Mira, Mr. Mackenzie was Managing Director of business development and investor relations at Coghill Capital Management, a long/short equity hedge fund in Chicago. Mr. Mackenzie developed relationships with consultants, family offices, endowments, foundations and other institutional investors in the US and Europe.

Mr. Mackenzie has a unique, entrepreneurial background as a sales and marketing operating executive who has started businesses, built businesses and seen them to successful exits on the private and public markets. In 2006, he co-founded FineEye Color and built a factory that manufactured high-quality inkjet photo paper. After acquiring a software business and integrating it to FineEye, the business was sold in 2010. In 2000, Mr. Mackenzie was the 5th employee and the founding Executive Vice President of Infoblox (NYSE: BLOX) where he raised the initial rounds of venture funding leading to a subsequent investment from Sequoia Capital.

During the 1990’s, Mr. Mackenzie worked for two well-known businesses founded by the late Efi Arazi, widely regarded as Israel’s greatest tech entrepreneur. Mackenzie ran sales and marketing for Scitex Corp.in the US overseeing triple digit revenue growth as sales topped $100M. He was then recruited to be a part of Electronics for Imaging (NASQ: EFII) in Silicon Valley and eventually moved to Paris and served a Managing Director of European Sales where he opened operations in seven countries.

Mr. Mackenzie received a BA in Business and French Literature from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL and a Diplome d’Etudes Generales from Universite d’Aix Marseille in Aix-en-Provence, France. He speaks fluent French.
